To All the Fighters of 2014
Hello blogger peeps. Happy New Year!
By this time, you will probably one of
three types of people.
Person 1: You’re still
listing/deciding on your new year’s resolution
Person 2: You’ve already made your new
year’s resolution and you are now in the process of accomplishing it
Person 3: You didn’t make a new year’s
resolution and you don’t plan on doing so
For Person 1, 2, and 3, please listen
to “The Fighter” by Gym Class Heroes (feat. Ryan Tedder) as you read the rest
of this entry.
Game? OK, here we go.
Dear Person 1,
Take your time. Make sure the things
you want to accomplish have one common end game: happiness.
You can say you want to be more
organized, you want to lose weight, you want that 6 pack, you want to be better
at your job, you want travel, you want to try new things, etc. All those things are fine, but if it wont make
you happy in the end, it’s USELESS.
When you write down a goal on a piece
of paper (or on some app you kids downloaded), ask yourself: “Will this make me
happy?”
If it doesn’t, ditch it. If it does,
write down WHY. Next list HOW you’re going to achieve
this goal.
After all is said and done, FIGHT ON
for your happiness.
Dear Person 2,
By this time I hope you are on your
way to achieving your goal. Check back here in February and see if you’re still
on course. If you’re not, ask yourself what happened. Identified what went
wrong, address it, fix it. Don’t be in denial.
If this goal of yours will make you
happy when you achieve it, isn’t it worth fixing? Keep at it.
Ignore the nay-sayers (and yes this might include yourself).
Most of the conflict/hurdle is
internal. Don’t be so hard on yourself. So what if you had a donut while you
were on your diet? Address it and then adjust your diet. Don’t give up just
because you got off track. Make that mistake, adjust, then carry on. No biggie.
After all is said and done, FIGHT ON
for your happiness and the sweet taste of achievement.
Dear Person 3,
Hi. So you’re one of those people who
decided that they don’t need a New Year’s resolution to make a change. Good for
you. Props.
You are either content with yourself or live everyday like it's January 1st. I envy you.
Now if you’re one of those people who
don’t really want to bother improving yourself or the world, well dear, that’s
a very really shitty way to live your life.
You get ONE life. This is it! One
chance. Make the best of it. We should all aim to improve ourselves and our
environment everyday. Not only is it the “good” thing to do, but it also
makes you feel good. It will make you happy. TRUST ME ON THIS! If anything,
accomplishing goals will give you bragging rights. Sounds awesome right?
After all is said and done, FIGHT ON trying to better your one life. You have so much to give and experience. STOP BEING BORED AND BORING!
Remember that living life is not the
same as existing.
And that's all I have to say about that.
Good luck with all your goals for
2014. Keep us posted.
