My Top 10 Kpop Songs & Albums (2017)

Image
K-pop is one of most popular music genres in the world. If you don't know what K-pop is, it's basically Korean pop or South Korean popular music that experiments with other music styles as well. I've only been a fan of K-pop for two years and boy, have I learned a lot about it. To be honest, I used to find this genre annoying. I didn't get what the hype was all about when it comes to K-pop. I would say, "They're just pretty faces", "Can they even sing?", "Why are you obsessed with K-pop when you don't even understand it?"  My classmates during college told me to give it a chance and to take time to listen to it, I did and I became so invested with this music genre, I knew I'd never hate it like I did before. Once you take the time to listen to a certain K-pop song, you'll feel happy, sad, ecstatic, or even sentimental. You automatically feel like you know what the song is about even though you don't understand it.

My Top 10 OPM Songs (2017)

If you're not familiar with OPM, OPM stands for "Original Philippine Music" or "Organisasyon ng mga Pilipinong Manunugtog at Mangangawit". It's a music genre that's basically Philippine songs and ballads; and recently found out from friends that any OPM song composed by a Filipino singer or songwriter can be in English or any other languages. It took a while for me to become a fan of OPM. My papa and mama are fans and they usually listen to famous Filipino singers like Christian Bautista, Gary Valenciano, Erik Santos, Jose Mari Chan, Lea Salonga, Jed Madela, and Sarah Geronimo. I've been living in Philippines for five years now and the more I listen to OPM, the more I learn the Filipino/Tagalog language. I'm probably the slowest learner when it comes to languages and I feel bad 'cause I'm a Filipino. At least now, I'm decent with it than I was five years ago. My friends would give me suggestions of artists and bands and I love ex

Lessons I've Learned From the First Half of 2017

I usually wait 'til the end of December of every year to look back at all the lessons I've learned. 2017 is special though -- full of life lessons. All of these are very difficult to swallow, but they're important to understand. So gather around people, I've got some wisdom for ya: 1) Everything is Temporary People will think this was a pretty pessimistic but hear me out. This is probably the most important lesson I learned this year. Todo es temporal. The bad things in life are temporary. As some of you might already know, I went through a pretty dark phase during the latter part of 2016 and early 2017. There was a point where I thought, "welp, this is how it's always going to be and I might as well get used to it". Well kids, that pain you feel when shit happens, it will pass. It may not feel that way but trust me when I say, the sun will shine again. Be kind and patient with yourself. Power through all the shit because this is just temporary.
